Bathroom and Cosmetic Organization

Although it might not be the first place you'd think to spruce up and organize, the bathroom is a pretty important place! It's where you start your day, it's where you beautify! And let's face it - the bathroom stores SO many different types of home goods - from toiletries, to back stock, to cosmetics, to linens - the list could be endless depending on how your home is set up. I am going to take you inside MY bathroom to show you how I organize and how I make the most of my space. First things first - under the sink storage!
Under The Sink Storage
I still live at home, so my bathroom is off of my bedroom and is pretty small. I have a single vanity unit with one cabinet and two drawers - so my biggest storage space is under the sink. Under my sink I store extra contact lenses, extra medications, my hair hot tools, my travel cosmetic case, feminine products, trash bags, shower cleaner, tile cleaner, my travel steamer, and some back stock of other toiletries that I'll need in the future like extra lotion, shaving cream, and hair spray. To organize all of this I've added levels to help separate my different categories and to help utilize the vertical space in the cabinet. I went and bought this from The Container Store.

The top drawer holds my extra back stock items, like extra hair spray, shaving cream, and lotion. The bottom drawer holds my medications, contact lenses, and feminine products. On the other side of my cabinet I have a bin that holds other toiletries like mouthwash, extra shampoo and conditioner, and shower/tile cleaner. In front of the bin is where I put my travel cosmetic case. The to utilize the space, I added two hooks to the backside of the cabinet door to store my two curling irons. (Check out my latest post on my Instagram page for a picture of this space!)
Drawer Storage
Drawers are a passage for disaster, especially in the bathroom. There are so many little products that could end up being dumped anywhere, causing your drawers to become the doomed "junk drawers". To help combat this, I went out and bought two skinny bins that could fit in each drawer for smaller items, and then I could store larger items on the side. The bins I have are similar to these below.

In my top drawer, I have my essentials that I use every single day - like contacts, toothpaste, deodorant, face wash, floss, etc. I also have a few items that I don't typically use everyday, like certain face masks, hair masks, medicines, and nail care. To help organize between the two, I store all of my everyday products in a cosmetic case on the opposite side of the drawer from my bin. This helps when traveling, because all I need to do is zip it up and I have my everyday products ready to go. In the bin I store my face mask, hair mask, nail care, and other items I don't reach for on an everyday basis.
In my bottom drawer is where I have another skinny bin that holds some random things that I don't typically need often like headbands, sunscreen and lotion, and my travel sized bottles that I fill up with my own shampoo and conditioner when traveling. Next to the bin I store my Dyson hair dryer in the case, so it's a little bulky, but it fits in this space perfectly!
Cosmetic Storage
Now we get to the fun part - all things cosmetics! So as I mentioned, since my vanity storage is pretty small, I needed something extra to hold everything else that a girl needs! Hair care, make up, skin care, and then all those bathroom extras like cotton swabs, cotton pads, hair ties, etc! During a Home Goods trip I found a small white piece that had a white marble top with four drawers that I knew would fit perfectly in the corner of my bathroom. I've linked a similar piece below, but I could add an exact picture to my Instagram if you guys are interested!

I organized the drawers in categories to help keep everything tidy! My top drawer is for all my make up. Personally, I'm not huge into make up, so one drawer is enough for me, but if you have a bigger collection of cosmetics than I do, you could always utilize multiple drawers and organize by face makeup, lips, and eyes. The way I organized my makeup drawer is simply by adding one of these to hold all my lip sticks, lip glosses and lip balms. I got mine from The Container Store, but there are so many different variations on Amazon, a few are linked on my Amazon Shop list "Organization for the Home":

Then in front of this, I have a small cosmetic bag with the rest of my makeup like tinted moisturizer, concealer, highlighter, blush and a small eye palette. Like I said - I don't have a large make up collection, but this works for me! Again - using a cosmetic bag for storage makes traveling easy because I just add a few lipsticks, zip it up, and I'm ready to go!
My next drawer is skin care where I keep my moisturizers, toner, sunscreen, night cream, eye cream, extra face masks, and then other skincare that I haven't gotten around to using yet. The third drawer holds all hair care from brushes, my Dyson blow dryer heads, hair spray, leave-in conditioners, hair masks, hair serums, and blow dryer clips. The last drawer holds some back stock like cotton pads, cotton swabs, some nail polishes that I don't reach for often and my Clarisonic charger.
On top, I have a small flower arrangement, a diffuser, and a jewelry dish where I put my earrings, bracelets, and watch that I wear everyday.
Paper Goods
I still live at home, so luckily most of the paper goods are stored in my family's laundry room. But I bought small basket from Home Goods that holds a few extra rolls of toilet paper which I keep on the floor next to the toilet.
Linens
There is a linen closet right outside my bedroom door - so again, I don't need to store too many towels, sheets, and hand towels in my bathroom. But, I do like to have a few spare towels at hand. I bought a basket from Home Goods and roll up a few towels and hand towels and store them upright. The basket is on the corner of my Jacuzzi tub. It looks cute, and it's functional storage!
