When it comes to the holidays, you want to make sure you're taking in all the little moments. The kids opening their gifts, the first taste of your favorite homemade dessert, the initial frost that dusts the lawn outside. Cherishing these little moments create the best of memories. However, it's inevitable that the holiday season comes with stress. We've put together a few tips and tricks to help you stay organized this holiday season.

Create Lists

Santa isn't the only one that should be checking off his list as he goes! Create lists to help stay organized with what ingredients you need for a recipe, how many gifts you have for a particular person, what plates you need to get down from the attic.

Lists can also be utilized as tiny mental accomplishments. Who else feels accomplished when they see an entire list crossed out and completed? Let yourself feel like you've won the day by setting "to-do list goals" each day leading up to your holiday dinner or celebration.

Color Coordinate

Yes, not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of EASIER ways to stay stress-free. However, an color coordinated area will immediately be easier on the eyes and brain to find something quickly. Here are a few areas in your home which you could color coordinate to help your space feel a little more put together:

  • Your closet - Color coordinating your blouses or shirts will help you find that particular blue sweater you've been planning on wearing for that holiday party.

  • Your pantry - Separate each category in color coordinating storage bins. Or use baskets with color coordinated labels. You need a quick jar of gravy because you forgot to make some homemade? Reach for the yellow labeled basket, since that's where you keep all your jarred food!

  • Christmas ornaments - While you're finally taking our Christmas tree down after the New Year, I'm sure the first thought isn't to color coordinate and organized your ornaments. However, this will make next year SO much easier! No one wants a display of ornaments that has all the red ones in one section and all the silver in another. Color coordinate your ornaments, that way next year when you're decorating you rotate through all the colors to have an evenly-colorful Christmas tree display!

Declutter

Everyone enjoys a new gift or two during the holidays. Now is the time to consider whether or not that brand new coat should replace the one that's been in your closet the last 4 winters. Start your New Year on the right foot by donating, recycling, and disposing of old coats, clothes, and household items that you know you aren't using enough to store.

Relax, plan ahead!

The biggest tip we could offer you is to relax and plan ahead! If you spend a few hours at a time leading up to your holiday celebration, party, or dinner, you'll be able to keep organized and actually enjoy your company, as making memories is the most important part!

Us at Simplified by Cassandra wish you and yours a very happy holiday season!
